Hi, I’m Heidi, the creator behind Heidi McAlpine Equine

 

Horses have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started riding at just five years old and quickly developed a passion for the connection between horse and rider. While I enjoyed many aspects of riding growing up, it was dressage that truly captured my attention. Since the age of 15, I have dedicated myself to the sport, developing a deep appreciation for the precision, harmony, and artistry that make dressage so unique.

 

For the past seven years, I’ve had the privilege of training with international Grand Prix dressage rider Nicky Pope. Through this experience, I’ve gained invaluable insight into producing horses, refining performances, and understanding what creates a successful freestyle at competition level. I bring that same attention to detail and high standard of presentation to every musical freestyle I create.

 

Throughout my riding career, I have competed through Advanced Medium level and trained movements beyond that level. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of horses, from talented young horses beginning their education to experienced schoolmasters competing at higher levels. These experiences have taught me that no two horse-and-rider combinations are the same, which is why I believe every freestyle should be tailored to highlight the unique strengths, personality, and way of going of each horse.

 

My passion for musical freestyles comes from combining two things I love: dressage and music. I enjoy creating soundtracks that not only fit the technical requirements of a test but also tell a story, enhance movement, and help riders feel confident and connected in the arena.

 

Whether you’re creating your first freestyle or preparing for a championship competition, my goal is to make the process simple, enjoyable, and completely tailored to you and your horse.
